Cleaning a drain properly means deciding first what tool the pipe can take. A cable cuts through a soft blockage and reopens flow, which is enough on a kitchen branch. Jetting scours the full wall of the pipe with water and does a far better job on grease and scale, though it needs a line in sound condition to be worth doing. Deciding between them is most of the skill. In older Treasure Valley homes the answer often turns on material, because cast iron that's been carrying hard water for sixty years has a rough interior that a cable barely touches. A camera run afterward is the honest check. It shows whether the line is clear, whether there's a low spot holding water, and whether roots from the cottonwoods and old shade trees along the valley's original ditch-line streets have found a joint. Newer builds out toward Kuna and Star usually come back clean on camera, and then the job is really about what's going down the drain.
