Seasonal timing

A first frost near October 20 marks when ground work gets harder, so a septic or lateral problem that's been intermittent all summer is better looked at before the soil sets up.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

How do I know whether I'm on septic or city sewer?

A sewer bill on the utility statement means city service. Septic shows up as a tank lid or two in the yard, sometimes a riser, and no sewer line item. Properties annexed later can have an abandoned tank still sitting in the ground, which surprises people during excavation. Parcels out toward Notus are almost all on septic.

All my drains are slow at once. Where do I start?

That pattern points past the fixtures to the main line, the lateral or the septic tank. Running more water makes it worse rather than better. The right first move is stopping water use and getting the main line inspected, since a full backup usually surfaces at the lowest drain in the house.

What is a curb stop and can I use it?

It's the utility's shutoff in a small box near the property line, operated with a long key. It isn't meant for homeowner use, and the valves are often stiff enough that turning one carelessly breaks it. Your own main shutoff inside the house is the one to know.

Does a garbage disposal cause septic trouble?

It adds solids the tank has to handle, which shortens the interval between pumpings. It doesn't make septic unworkable, but on an older system already near capacity it's often the thing that tips it over.
